I grew up in Yorkshire. I lived there from being a toddler until I was 22 years old. It is also where I met my husband Dominic and where our first child was born.
It has what feels like a lifetime of memories. Some good, some average and some bad. But hey that is life!
But growing up in Yorkshire (which for any of you Non-Brits is in the North East of England) it was all about the food.
The British bakery with its delicious homemade scones, sausage rolls and of course pasties. There was the seafront that sold the doughnuts and the lollies that the kids used to go nuts for in the summer months.
Though if dominic was reading this, he would be screaming at me that I have forgotten to mention the fish and chips!
As well as this we had beautiful countryside and an endless supply of outdoor fun. If you have ever watched Heartbeat and other popular British TV shows you would be able to relate to this.
But what is probably associated the most from a food point of view is the delicious Yorkshire Puddings that are traditionally served up with an English roast beef dinner.
Also, because they are made from simple pantry items no matter where you live in the world you would be able to get the ingredients to be able to make them!
Yorkshire puddings can be a bit like roast potatoes. At family gatherings you are always fighting over who gets the last one.
I used to be heartbroken when my mum didn’t make any at Sunday dinner.
She would point out that it is traditionally served with roast beef and you don’t need to have them with other meats. But I loved them so much there was no way I was missing out.
Now whenever we have a roast dinner Dominic is always there making his delicious roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings.
As he puts it you can never take Yorkshire out of the guy and I couldn’t argue with that!
Well if you would like to discover how easy it is to make them in the Air Fryer without having to rely on your oven then this is how us Milners do it!
What’s In Yorkshire Pudding?
I am sure you want to know first what’s in Yorkshire pudding and what all the fuss is about? Well Yorkshire Puddings have similar ingredients to savoury pancakes and is like a thick batter.
Compared to a classic pancake it carries more eggs so that they can puff up and not look like flat little boring things.
A Yorkshire pudding is crispy in texture and is often served with roast beef. Which is exactly what we are doing.
