For the crust:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (225g) cold unsalted butter (cut into cubes)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 6–8 tbsp ice water
For the filling:
- 6–7 medium apples (peeled, cored, sliced)
- Âľ cup sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ÂĽ tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp butter (cut into small pieces)
👨‍🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the crust
- In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.
- Add cold butter and rub it into the flour until it looks like crumbs.
- Add ice water gradually and mix until dough forms.
- Divide into two discs, wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
2. Prepare the filling
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla.
- Mix well until apples are coated evenly.
3. Assemble the pie
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Roll out one dough disc and place it in a pie dish.
- Add the apple filling and dot with small butter pieces.
- Roll out the second dough and place it on top.
- Seal the edges and cut small slits on top for steam to escape.
4. Bake
- Bake for 45–55 minutes until the crust is golden brown and filling is bubbling.
