🥧 Classic Apple Pie Recipe

đź§ľ Ingredients

For the crust:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (225g) cold unsalted butter (cut into cubes)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 6–8 tbsp ice water

For the filling:

  • 6–7 medium apples (peeled, cored, sliced)
  • Âľ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ÂĽ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp butter (cut into small pieces)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the crust

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add cold butter and rub it into the flour until it looks like crumbs.
  3. Add ice water gradually and mix until dough forms.
  4. Divide into two discs, wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

2. Prepare the filling

  1. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla.
  2. Mix well until apples are coated evenly.

3. Assemble the pie

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Roll out one dough disc and place it in a pie dish.
  3. Add the apple filling and dot with small butter pieces.
  4. Roll out the second dough and place it on top.
  5. Seal the edges and cut small slits on top for steam to escape.

4. Bake

  • Bake for 45–55 minutes until the crust is golden brown and filling is bubbling.

  • Use a mix of apples (sweet + tart) for better flavor.
  • Chill the dough well to get a flaky crust.
  • Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing (this helps the filling set).
